CBCT offers several advantages including 3-dimensional assessment of alveolar ridge . A CBCT image permits careful measurement of mesiodistal, buccolingual and occlusogingival dimension of the implant site which can be of tremendous benefit when transferred to a surgical guide generated from this data. There are many types of surgical guides and most require the use of a keys to direct the implant drills. These key systems have the vertical dimension of implant placement with a stop against the guide. If bone reduction is required a second surgical guide is necessary. The Verban Drillstop is an alternative which eliminates the need for cumbersome keys and the need for a second surgical guide if bone reduction is required. The surgical guide will control the axis of placement and the drillstop will control the vertical placement of the implant.
